Sometimes all we need is a hug
In today’s society, with everyone on the go and many of the social and family nets have been cut sending a large amount of us into a pretty lonely existence.Sometimes a hug is all we need. Have you ever had a stranger offer you that kind of comfort?Yes, I know, it is a strange feeling to reach out to a total stranger and hug them. We are told to stay out of other people’s personal space. And now, you can be accused of assaulting someone just by touching him or her.Is this Healthy? Is it Healthy NOT TO hug?Could all the anti social behavior out there really lay at the feet of no hugs. Remember when they said, “Hugs were better than drugs”? Do you really think they were meaning anti depressants?I have to wonder. All mammals need handling to make them social. All mammals and human is in that family tree. So, is that what has happened in society? Can it be that no one values touch because it is so sparse from birth on? My family were not big huggers but I think one of my brothers and I am. That leaves my sister and older brother less huggy than my brother and I. It also happens that the less huggy siblings are the very oldest.
Then I read about this guy who started up a Hug Campaign. http://www.freehugscampaign.org/
