November2 thru November 5 2005  TOUR FLORIDA

See the real Florida, avoid the big cities and tour the back roads of our beautiful Sunshine State

As we now propose, We will have our pre tour meeting in the late afternoon or early hours of Wednesday. We will eat, socialize and distribute the tour information.

Early on Thursday, we will guide you on the back roads through some very rural farming country made famous by Henry Flagler, when he used this area to grow vegetables for his hotel in St Augustine. This part of Florida is still famous for it's potatoes, cabbages and other vegetables which are now sold throughout the United States. We will then proceed down the Coastal Highway to St Augustine where the day will be yours to visit and go sightseeing in the oldest city in the United States.

On Friday, we will once again guide you by the back roads through some of the famous rolling hills and horse country of rural Florida to visit a museum dedicated to racing vehicles and to visit a rather large private collection of antique autos, and then once again return to Palatka via the highways and byways of this beautiful area.

Saturday will see us going to visit two rural towns, along with their museums. Some of these towns have not changed very much since the early 1940's. We will also be stopping to visit Camp Blanding, a World War 2 army boot camp which is still being used today as a training facility for the Florida National Guard. This base has an outstanding museum of the era, along with an outdoor equipment display which is unique by itself. From there we will return to our starting point for our farewell banquet and trophy presentations.
