ACLU Vrs NSA E-mail

Ann Beeson, ACLU associate legal director and lead cousel in the case, is joined by ACLU clients and attorneys on the steps of the courthouse just after the oral arguments

The ACLU argued the president broke the law by authorizing the National Security Agency to engage in warrantless eavesdropping of Americans' phone calls. While the Bush administration recently said that he has received new authority for surveillance from a secret intelligence court, the President has said that he still has the power to ignore the law when he wants to.

The ACLU asked the Sixth Circuit to require the President to comply with the law.
