Square rally: 9/11 was U.S. 'plot' E-mail

An energetic group of young people with some radical ideas descended upon Journal Square yesterday to spread their theory that the Sept. 11 attacks were not an act of terrorists, but carried out by the U.S. government.

A group of about 15 men and women passed out flyers and tried to convince anyone who would listen that the highest ranking American officials had a hand in the tragic events of 9/11.

While onlookers may have scoffed at the conspiracy theorists, these demonstrations are not uncommon, said one in the group.

"This is our first demonstration in New Jersey. However, this has been going on at Ground Zero for six years now," said Glenn Zarmanov, 19, of Jersey City.

Another member believes their message is catching on.

"These rallies are starting to pop up all over the place," said Tom D'Angelo.

Zarmanov said the group's goal is to "disseminate the mainstream media and simply get the information out there. We're just trying to inform people."
