A kayak in Florida is practically a necessity. It’s the cheapest and most convenient vehicle for sight-seeing on the water. For novice paddlers, though, spending money on a kayak when you’re not sure what works best can be a little intimidating.
That’s where area paddlers are in luck.
The Florida Gulf Coast Outdoor Festival, scheduled for June 23, is the perfect place to find out what you need to know about kayaks and gear. The Coquina Beach event will feature kayak seminars, rowing and small craft clinics that provide basic instructions, quick tips on how to choose the right kayak for your body type, and how to pack the essentials for a camping trip. Experienced kayakers will give beginners a free interactive demonstration.
The festival, which runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., will also include a kayak fashion show along with food, arts and crafts and live entertainment.
