For the past few months, It sure has been a struggle making ends meet hasn't it?
Besides gas being more expensive. Everything else has been affected by it and the Utility companies are putting the Squeeze on .
Paying $50.00 a month for water when the pool isn't working is ridiculous. We decided to stop filling the pool hoping the Landlord would get together and fix it for the summer months as it helps me keep the Air Conditioner set for a higher temp if I get my dip in the pool when I overheat. So not only am I paying pool filling prices when I am NOT filling my pool but the Electric Company raised their rates also and I am suppose to feel sorry for the overtime FPL has had to lay out after hurricanes while having to cover the costs.
To Top it off, Season wasn't so great this year. Even the holidays were lack luster in neighborhoods across Florida. FPL started raising their rates in November and people didn't DO the lights like usual.
Where is it going to end? Is it going to end?
I sincerely hope that the insurence bill gets passed so that the State of Florida Stops Propping up and supporting the gouging of its citizens in a Mob Like Fashion. I agree that a person "should" have auto insurence IF they get in an accident but the Industry and the government had joined hands to make it a Crime to not be insured in none accident situations.
It goes farther than that because the Insurence Company tells the State when you lapse and the State cancls your drivers license thus causing a whole lot of events and money to be spent when chances are...the person pulled over because he is on the "no insurence" sheet is most likely on his way to work or working. The manditory Insurence laws are a hardship that needs to be relaxed in this hard economic downturn that has been building momentum.
But, it is a BIG Money maker for the State of Florida also. In these summer months the traffic violation Fees get Yanked up. The locals bear the brunt of our law enforcement needing new tools. Which doesn't make sense either since they do a lot of forfeiture law here, taking what doesn't belong to them BEFORE a court finds the defendent guilty or innocent. To me this is another extortion tactic.
We are feeling it EVERYWHERE.
The other day I was listening to speakers talking about debt in society. It was very interesting because when you talk about peoples debt....One usually conjures up fur coats, exotic trips, designer clothes and high priced sneakers and electronic gadgets but studies have shown that the majority of debt is medical bills, car repairs and house repairs with an occassional utility payment. This means that the debt has become the safety net.
What happens when someone doesn't HAVE even that safety net.
Whatever you do...don't come to Florida to find out.
