Is Pizza Comfort Food?
Some People think so. The woman who lives with us does. She loves her pizza and she is nice enough to buy pizza for the household once a week..
We are a little more choosy about our Pizza but come summer Pizza Places that deliver are few and far between. As far as the "corporate" Pizza Hungry Howies was a good pick. I happened to like the garlic crust because it makes up to the bland tomato sauce most Pizza joints use.
So , after finding our "other" favorite place was either out of business or closed for the summer
We called Hungry Howies. Ordered 3 large Pizzas.
I was the first person to run into something foreign in a slice of Pizza. I was so spooked by it I threw the bite out and did not resume eating the pizza. I later fished my bite out of the garbage to look for the foreign matter that I crunched on with my partial bridge. If it had been my other side it might have hurt. I had told my other half to watch out on the pizza and the woman who ordered the Pizza was upset that I didn't tell her about it right away because she could have called. Anyway , no one else got a bad slice from the pizza I ate from.
However , the next day. My other half had a slice from another Pizza and he SAVED the item. The woman took the item to Hungry Howies and was told the manager would call her. And call her he did......I have never heard of a Restaurant owner berating a good customer like this woman.
We think it was , perhaps , a piece of his pans. He insists that it was custy crumbs from his ovens and that WE were trying to "pull " something. He should have been happy that we called attention to something wrong in his operation. Instead he flat out lied to me...He lied directly to me after the woman handed the phone to me because he was being flat out evil and nasty. By the way, this woman lives on our couch and is on disability and she told this man she was disabled and he used it to his advantage not knowing I was going to pick up the slack.
His out and out lie was what came out of his pizza that we returned to him. He says he could squish it between his fingers. Bold Face Lie.
So...Word of warning to all you pizza lovers out there in the Venice Englewood area Do not order from Hungry Howies 1720 Mc Call Rd in Englewood until Jeff Conway is out the door. 475 8384
