Water district asks cities to impose year-round use restrictions E-mail

South Florida Water Management District officials on Monday urged local municipalities to set year-round restrictions on lawn watering.

It is recommending that watering be limited to before 10 a.m. and after 4 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays for homes and businesses with odd street addresses, and on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays for homes and businesses with even street addresses.

During a workshop in Coconut Creek, water conservation officer Bruce Adams said the district's board will consider approving the year-round restrictions July 12. The new rules could start in September.

After the board approves the restrictions, municipalities would be required to pass laws, resembling the district's to fine residents and collect the fines.
