While Cumberland-Perry residents enjoy a high general standard of living, its children are facing a wide range of health threats.
From environmental threats (asthma) to general childhood health trends (obesity) to alarming diagnosis (autism), area children are facing serious health issues. That has many local health care experts concerned about the future.
“We have the same problems that are recognized nationally,” says Stephen J. Krebs, M.D., a physician with Carlisle Pediatric Associates.
The Carlisle Area Health and Wellness Foundation charted children's health as part of its recently completed Community Health Status Assessment 2007.
Strategy Solutions and Moore Research Services Inc. interviewed 20 key community leaders, drew responses from people during 38 focus groups across the area in January and February and conducted a telephone survey of 1,300 area households.

Swanny Note: The Upswing in Autism is really alarming Folks.
I used to train Autistics to live in the world and taught them how to practically BREATHE.
I have had the chance to talk to high functioning Autistics and this will be a strange world if Autistics ever get a majority status in the country.
