Q Please reinstate sanity on our roads by requiring motorcycle riders to wear helmets. Car drivers are required to wear safety belts, which is government telling us what to do and necessarily so. Let's have the same care for motorcyclists, please.I would like to see Florida adopt the law of being able to use only a hands-free cell phone while driving. I see too many accidents and near accidents simply because someone is talking on their cell phone.
Neil Belfour, Lake Worth
A. I believe in freedom first. What we need to do is encourage good driving behavior and safety tips that make it better for our people. That means being courteous; it means being smart. I would prefer to have fewer rules, candidly. I think the ones we have now on the books are good, and we have good law enforcement at every level — local, state and federal. But our citizens have to work well [at following the rules] too.

Swanny Note: More Laws is not the answer. More law enforcement is not the answer. The responsibility for not being a danger to yourself and those around you lay strictly on YOU.
Seriously, I have no cell phone. I find them a bother and most people can not multi task when they drive.
That is what needs to be addressed. Maybe in an exam to renew your license and be legal to use a cell phone, perhaps the talent needs to be demonstrated and a special rating given to those that have that special talent.
