It’s been tough these days to get a job. So tough, in fact, that a
fugitive warrant issued in Michigan for Daniel James Durso didn’t stop
him from applying for a deputy’s job in Charlotte County.
Durso was arrested about 4:30 p.m. when he was invited for a second interview, the sheriff’s office reported.
Durso, 41 of 2425 Carling Way #203, Port Charlotte, filled out
an application on Tuesday for a deputy’s position. Upon doing a
criminal background, the sheriff’s office discovered the Michigan State
Police had a warrant for him for non-payment of child support. When he
got back to the sheriff’s office today, recruiter Philip Schofield, who
took his application on Tuesday, handcuffed him and booked him without
bond. He is now waiting to be transported back to Michigan.
