Elaine Quijano CNN White House Correspondent: We heard from Tony Snow Yesterday saying once more  the White House believes that  what the Attorney General said in his testimony on Tuesday   was truthful in the White Houses View.What is interesting though is there seems to be a parsing of words.Snow also saying yesterday telling Wolf Blitzer that  what Robert  Muellar  said was not using the words "the Terrorist surveillance Program" talking about     "an" NSA program.

So it certainly opens the door to  a lot more questions - is there more than wireless wire tapping going on.

Kiran Chetry CNN NY : Well, it certainly does , The Democrats have been tossing around the word Perjury and calling for an investigation of this. Can there be a criminal aspect to this?

Jeffrey Toobin CNN Senior Legal Analyst : Absolutely,Now the hot seat goes to Paul Clement the solicitor general the  number 3 person in the justice dept,obviously  the first 2 are recused from this decision he has to decide whether there is enough to ask  for a special prosecuter to look into whether perjury took place. If you recall.....

Kiran Chetry CNN NY :So he has to decide this about his own boss in a way?

Jeffrey Toobin CNN Senior Legal Analyst : Yes, his own Boss it is a ackward situation bit that  is how the laws are set up there is almost no other way of doing it. The last time there was a special prosecutor it was Patrick Fitzgerald who investigated Scooter Libby which turned out to be a very serious case.If Clement decides that a special prosecuter is neccessary that may be the one thing short of Impeachment that will get Gonzales to resign.

Kiran Chetry CNN NY :And Quickly elaine, So has there been any reaction from the White House about the  possible  criminal investigations into Alberto Gonzales?

Elaine Quijano CNN White House Correspondent:We heard from the White House yesterday that the Democrats are more interested in making headlines than necessarily on the Peoples Business and what was very telling though was that even though the Democrats are calling for these investigations Arlen Spector that has been Very Critical , did not sign on to that effort and said Look I think that is parcipitous ,the Democrats are just trying to make headlines here. So the White House at least got some backing from Senator Spector on that front



Kiran Chetry CNN NY :and Jeff , as you say  he may have an out? By nature he could say " some of this is  classified"

Jeffrey Toobin CNN Senior Legal Analyst : Absolutely. I mean, the fact that the NSA program has never been defined in detail, that, you know, what people are talking about is somewhat vague, that may save him from certainly a perjury case and perhaps even a perjury investigation.

I transcribed this before seeing they had a transcript of it on CNN but it differed a tiny bit from what was said here.

Why am I picking this out to talk about?

It rubbed me the wrong way.
Aren't all Americans up in arms regarding illegal wiretapping or do the Republicans feel that it doesn't affect them at all?

The way the reporters talked it was only the Democrats  that have been paying attention to what this sneaky  Administration has been up to? Aren't the Republicans listening and more than that, are they listening to themselves?

Why is the media splitting the Americans up into 2 camps, those that support the President and those who don't and it is only the Democrats that are finding fault. Hell, this administration hides so much, most people , including the Congress are kept in the dark. National Security is threatened when the Administration  wants to keep everything secret. When it is those "secrets" that the government will use against YOU but  they never can find any of the information if it implicates THEM in any way.

And why does the media write its script to fit this abortion to justice? What does it matter that the lap dog Arlen Spector is not asking for Gonzales head on a platter. He has not been forceful about much when it comes to what Bush wants. What is with this stupidity that the "democrats" are only wanting to make headlines. Maybe THEY are but  I am hoping Justice is finally ready to be done.
