Ron Paul supporters catch Rudy Julieanni Riding  a fairy!!!

Just a little note to tell everyone what went on up in Mackinac this weekend. We just returned home from the Island tonight.

The Friday Rally at the entrance to the Shepler Docks was a great success. I didn't take a count, but there were at least 50 of us standing out and around waving signs and chanting. The Jackson Meetup Group brought their Truck mounted giant TV and were broadcasting Ron Paul speeches during the rally.

We all felt a little sorry for the Romney kids that were trying to work one corner. There were only about 4 of them and they were hopelessly outnumbered. They kept all bunched together and looked very uncomfortable.

About 5pm we got the word that Ron had landed at the airport and was on his way to the dock, so we all proceeded down to the dock to line up and welcome him. Ron showed up at about 5:40 and walked down the line speaking and shaking hands with everyone who was there to meet him.

We had missed the 5:30 Ferry, but the good people at Shepler's quickly boarded us on another boat and made a special run to take us and Ron Paul over to the Island. While on the Ferry, Ron spoke to everyone that approached him and was signing signs and anything else people put in front of him. I asked him how much longer he thought those guys in Washington could keep going before everything started to collaspe, and he said "Not much longer, things are starting to fall apart and this time they will not be able to stop it."

We were met at the Island by another large group of supporters and we all Paraded with Ron up to the Grand Hotel. We filled the drive in front of the Grand Hotel and Ron Paul had reached the steps before the last of the supporters reached the entrance to the driveway. It took about 15 min to get everyone up the drive and steps onto the front porch and during this time we were blocking the drive and preventing the horse carriages from getting through to unload other Conference goers.

While Ron checked in and did a couple of quick News Interviews. We traipsed back down the hill to Mary's Bistro for another Rally and Buffet Dinner. The Bistro holds 100 and we had the place packed with overflow out onto the patio area. Ron finally got to the Bistro at about 8:15 and gave us a rousing speech and spent time visiting with everyone.

Those of us staying in Mackinaw City left just before 9 to catch the last Ferry back to the Mainland. As we were all standing in line, we could hear this chorus of low level boo's start behind us. Looking around to see what was going on, we spotted the problem.

Surrounded by staff and Police, Guilliani was being whisked up the dock to get on our Ferry. What they didn't realize is that almost the whole line was Ron Paul supporters. The look on his face when he realized what was up, was priceless. Now a real Candidate, would have put on a brave face and gladhanded his way up the line trying to drum up support. Not Bonito, they closed rank around him and he all but ran up the dock, head down and refusing to even acknowledge us. They stuffed him into the cockpit with the Captain and his staff stood outside the door like they had to protect him from us. So he got to ride back hearing the whole boat chanting "Ron Paul". When we got to the mainland, they had his car pulled up, and put him out over the bow railing. Some of us managed to make it off the Ferry and get lined up so he drove off between a line of signs and chants. I am sure Rudy will not forget his trip to Mackinac for awhile. There were lots of camcorders among us, so I am sure some footage of it will hit Youtube soon.

Saturday was the Republican Breakfast Program. Tancrado and Brownback were no shows, but Saul and his bunch didn't let Ron Paul start his speech until the last 15 minutes of the program and then he had to rush through it. We are planning on writing to the Michigan GOP a strong protest as there was no reason at all that Dr. Paul couldn't have had more time. Most of the 1 1/2 hours we were sitting there trying to eat what they claimed was breakfast, was spent sitting there looking at the podium waiting for anything to happen.

By the way, any of you that might ever visit Mackinac Island, do not bother to eat at the Grand Hotel. The food is horrible and grossly overpriced.

The Reception that was held at the Iroquois Hotel afterwards was much better as we all got to ask Dr Paul questions and visit with him for about 2 hours before he had to leave to catch a plane down to Chicago.

All in all it was a very good weekend. The Ron Paul supporters were equal to about all the other Candidates supporters combined. Hopefully we helped show the Michigan GOP that we will be a force to be reckoned with.

There was a Straw Poll conducted at the Conference, but we left before it was concluded. It will be interesting to find out how that turned out. The lady that checked us in to vote, said the Ron Paul people seemed to be there in droves.
