What a concept. Why do they make it sound almost ok?
You "spend time" at the beach. You "spend time" at the store.
You LOSE time from your life in Jail.
Time you NEVER, and I mean NEVER regain.
So they increase the time wasted from your life and say it is a deterrent.
Maybe a deterrent for me because I recognize the factors of failure and one of those factors is the time lost.
I have a friend doing a life sentence in Wyoming. It is a heartbreaking case but a couple years ago I told him to Stop his appeals. Yeah, it sounds harse but he had already lost 20 years fighting a case that , like I said, is heartbreaking. But I have watched his family financially break themselves to get his case appealed and I told him as of then that he was better off in Jail than out.
Think about the changes that have happened in the world in the last 20 years.
He would have been lost.
I had another friend that will always be losing chunks of time in Jails.
I wondered the last time I saw him why he was so rude to the automated information system on the phone but that was because the LAST time he lived in the World there were live operators answering the questions for Phone listings. Also he tried using the computer mouse like a TV remote. He lost time and everytime he loses time he falls more behind.
So why is it that the aspect of Losing time isn't advertised regarding DOING TIME?
Maybe then the young that think it is a badge of honor may see it as more of an obsticle and a set back.
It needs to stop being glamorized.
Actually, if that happens maybe more people would be upset by the changes taking place that the entire goal is to make us lose time.
