A 15-year-old boy was Tased Friday when staff and a school resource officer
at the Charlotte Harbor Center could not restrain him as he tried to fight a
teacher.
According to a Charlotte County Sheriff’s Office report, the boy — whose name
was not released — became belligerent, screaming and lunging at Stephen
Griffing, who teaches in the SANDS program for learning and emotionally disabled
students. Other students were cleared from the classroom. Then, school resource
officer Deputy David Lupinetti warned the boy he would use his Taser on him if
he did not stop resisting the staff and security personnel attempting to hold
him back, the report said. The boy kept resisting and Lupinetti stunned him
twice on the leg. After being Tased, the boy reportedly agreed to follow
directions.
The boy was arrested on one count of disruption of a school function, a
misdemeanor charge. He was released to a guardian.

Swanny Note: Don't police at schools for the developmentally disabled taught ANYTHING?
Having been a Life Coach for developmentally disabled MEN...I find THIS story disturbing and would find it to be criminal in nature.
It is a crime to injure a person with disablilities in MOST states. This child was IN a school for SUCH behavior problems...a man with a TASER should not be the school resource officer if he has not been to basic schooling on how to restrain people until they calm down. If a care giver can receive life in prison for harming a mentally disabled person..how can Police get away with this.
Also , I may add, the Newspaper article lumped a different story at the bottom of this story not included in my posting regarding a different MAN with a weapon at a different school. My thoughts on this is that since most people skim when they read that most people would not notice this weapon problem and the tasered youth were not the same.
