Swanny Note: In a world where detonating packages could contain a mirade of items, some extremely lethal. why is it still the practice of the BOYS in law enforcement to blow up packages WILLY NILLY? Everytime I see one of these stories I just Thank God it wasn't something more dangerous. I think the Boys just like to blow things up .
SARASOTA -- Police blew up a suspicious package found Monday morning in
a stairwell at a county-owned parking garage, ending an investigation
that closed Ringling and East boulevards for more than two hours.
The package, which contained an old typewriter inside a case, was discovered by a county employee.
The
typewriter was inside a locked gate that only county employees can
access, but the county did not know why the package was there.
Sarasota
Police investigators used a remote-controlled robot to detonate the
package after deciding against using an X-ray it to see what was inside.
All downtown streets around the garage were closed during the investigation and were reopened at 10:30 a.m.
Also
Monday morning, the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office responded to a
report of a suspicious package found under a car in a parking lot at a
county building, 265 S. Orange Ave.
That package was not blown up after an X-ray showed it contained a small glass figurine of a dog.
