SARASOTA -- The Last Great American Burger at the Palm Plaza off Bee
Ridge Road has been shuttered, the latest in a long line of Southwest
Florida restaurants that have closed in the wake of a struggling
economy.
An
eviction notice was pasted on the restaurant's front door Thursday,
notifying the restaurant's owners that the sheriff had changed the lock
on the doors.
Palm Plaza Associates Ltd. evicted the restaurant and is seeking more than $32,000 from the owners, court records show.
A Sarasota judge signed the eviction order last week and copies were delivered to William Koch and Jo Ann Koch, the owners.
Jo Ann Koch, who renewed the business license for the business last April, could not be reached for comment on Thursday.
The
restaurant's silver and red benches and decor could be seen through the
window, although most of the equipment had been removed.
