Narcotics
detectives who attended Wednesday’s grand opening of a smoke shop in
Port Charlotte store arrested two people for selling drugs in front of
the store, the agency reported. Detectives attended the event on
several tips that people were going to be selling drugs there.
Sheriff's officials said no employees of the business were involved, and the activity took place outside the store.
According to CCSO reports: At 8 p.m. two undercover detectives
went to Smoke-N-CDs, 3129 Tamiami Trail, Unit-C and inside were
approached outside the store by Michael Grady Wilson, 22, 25188 E.
Marion Ave., Punta Gorda, and Andrew James Morris, 18, 2818 Larkspur
Drive, Punta Gorda. Wilson asked the detectives if they were looking
for anything and they responded they wanted to “get some weed.” Wilson
said he did not have any marijuana, but had Klonapin pills for sale.
Wilson and Morris asked detectives to get inside Morris’ 1998 Ford
where they bought 10 pills.
Wilson told the detectives he had a friend that could get him
marijuana. The officers gave Wilson money and he made a phone call.
A few minutes later, a car pulled up to the store front.
Wilson got in, got out and handed the undercover detective a bag of
marijuana.
Then Morris and Wilson drove off in Morris’ Ford. They were
stopped at 9:07 p.m. by patrol cars. Deputies found Wilson had a pill
bottle with 21 Klonapin pills and a cigarette pack with marijuana, the
sheriff’s office said. At the Charlotte County Jail, officers found a
Klonapin pill in Morris’ wallet, the sheriff’s office reported.
Wilson was charged with possession of controlled substance with
intent to distribute, sale and delivery of Klonapin, sale and delivery
of marijuana, possession of Klonapin and possession of marijuana.
Morris was charged with principle to sale and delivery of controlled
substance Klonapin, possession of Klonapin, and introduction of a
controlled substance into a correctional facility.
Both were booked into the Charlotte County Jail.
