FPL extorts money from Struggling Customers E-mail

Everybody knows that everything has gone up expensewise. Gas, Food, Electricity , Water and taxes has all jumped up in price. So, I am sure many people are juggling cash trying to keep a roof over their heads, a Vehicle on the road and the utilities on.

Last month , I was able to pay all my bills in full because I borrowed. And this month FPL wants an extra $129.00 in extortion , they call it an added deposit. I have never had my power shut off for non payment. It has run close but juggling is an art in itself , as is extortion.

This is not the first time they have asked for an extra deposit either.

It isn't something I can do without. I can't go to another power company. There isn't one.
That extra $129.00 is what my power went up to last summer and fall. Why do I have to cover something like that? Things are already squeeky tight. My penalty is taken out of what? See , that is what is really bothering me. When there is no meat in the budget to trim out, What is the next recourse? Kill off the dog? cat? parrot? for FPL? I already don't go to the doctor when I should. We live in an over priced rental because the owner hasn't adjusted it to the economy even though he was more than happy to raise the rent to keep it in line with the market. I wish they would reprice it but we can not afford to move either.

So, it isn't like I am going to skip out on a 2 month bill.Like I said. I am all paid up. I am only in arrears with them because of this added deposit and today I have to talk to these people the FPL company has employed to talk to the customers. One of the ways they will not charge us this extortion is if we have direct pay out of our bank account. That is no way to handle finances that come is slow but steady, at least it used to be steady but the phone has gotten increasingly quiet.

Anyway, should this kind of extortion be allowed from a monopoly company?
