New Pot Laws Give Enforcers a Bigger slice of the Action E-mail

Police say the new laws will make neighborhoods safer because they make it easier to punish criminals, so more bad guys will be off the streets.

How Many stories about new tougher laws start off like that? Plenty. Are the streets "safer" by making "laws" tougher on Marijuana Growers?
No, it doesn't do anything  but perhaps push people into finding some other type of stress relief. Chances are if they go to their Doctor , he would be more than happy to place these people on heavily physically addictive anti depressents. You know the ones that are a spin off of Prozac ie: Effixxor , Paxil. Now, Why would anyone want to do that to the common everyday pot smoker who does everything that is expected of him as a Citizen.

I have lost many friends over the years but I have never lost a Friend to Marijuana.

Most people where the helicoptors have located Grow Houses have only heard the Helicoptors. And many neighbors have said " I never saw anybody " So, how can the Authorities get away with saying making stricter Marijuana Laws are making the neighborhood safer?

What it does mean is there will be more homes confiscated and therefore More money to be more invasive into the life of the normal everyday American.

Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott says the bottom line with these new laws is it sends a message to criminals: the state is cracking down and will not tolerate drug pushers anymore.

"They had a free pass for some time now over the years. We've stepped up the intensity. We're not going to let up until they're out of town or in prison," he said.

Over the past four years in Lee County, more than a 150 grow houses have been taken down.

The number is even bigger across the state and get this, just in the past year, law enforcement agencies all over Florida have collected more than $41 million dollars in pot from busting grow houses.

Yes, it is all about the money isn't it. And with that pot, how much of it is syphoned off and are  the Busts that take place just the people that decided to cut the Cops out of the profits? That is what I wonder with these laws. It is Florida and Pot should be able to be grown outside on People's Lanai's

If the State was really concerned about Crime and not tolerating drug pushers...then why are the crack dealers still on the street corners. I have seen this event in Laurel , I have seen it in Tampa and have seen it in Sarasota/Bradenton. They have been dealing right out in the open a drug that has taken more friends from people I know and also myself. But THAT is tolerated isn't it MR Lawman?

No, it doesn't make you any safer to slam down on the Pot Grower. It just gives the Law a bigger Cut in the Action.
