TURKPULSE No:130..........OCTOBER  25th  2004

RADICAL REORIENTATION UNTIL 2013, THE EARLIEST

The next ten years or so will see a radical reorientation for Turkey as no one expects its EU accession to take place before 2013 even if Europe’s answer to Turkey on 17 December will be to start full membership negotiations in the first half of the new year. In this ten year period the key factor to determine  world developments of direct concern to Turkey will be the new American Administration’s Middle East policy whether it is called the Greater Middle East or Expanded Middle East strategy. Of course, its national security aspect has already become Ankara’s main preoccupation. About what to expect for and from Turkey and this region in this global reorientation especially covering the Middle East and the Caucasus please see the article below.

The last issue of Pulse was so well informed, balanced and well documented about the undeniable American part in the 1999 Istanbul earthquake that no one attempted to issue any rebuttal or seriously question its validity. Still some readers found the article inadequate in answering a vitally important question and they were totally right because I felt the necessity of cutting it short after six pages, as we try to restrict ourselves to four pages to make articles readable. That question was, “Why should the Americans want to deliver such a terrible blow to Turkey as to kill 20,000 innocent people by deliberately triggering off a frightening earthquake starting from the Golcuk naval base?”

Above all, Pulse has already given Washington the benefit of the doubt and agreed that the tragedy might have far exceeded the Americans intentions. And it’s more than the Americans do to themselves given the fact that the posters carried in the Democrat Party’s election rallies and the demonstrations in London read “Bush engineered Nine Eleven”.

Whether or not it was a mistake, the 1999 quake is bound to yield serious consequences

Before the Golcuk earthquake in 1999 the Americans were maintaining that they were afraid of an enormous earthquake in California because of the San Andreas Fault and that it could be avoided or checked by triggering off smaller quakes in the Marmara Fault, an extension of San Andreas, according to American claims. These claims were the basis of the Turkish-American-Israeli naval exercises in the Mediterranean held within the improving Turkish-Israeli military cooperation since the then Turkish Foreign Minister Hikmet Cetin (who is now the head of the NATO team in Afghanistan) started it in the early Nineties with Washington’s prodding.  Turkey sincerely believed in the humane “life saving and rescue” claims of the United States and Israel about this military cooperation, just as the Turkish soldiers in Suleimania, northern Iraq, on 4 July 2003, believed the American soldiers’ request to visit them to have a cup of tea and faced pistol drawing bullies who manhandled them and ransacked their secret safes.

So when the Golcuk earthquake happened with frightening tragedies, there was nothing else for Ankara but to “believe” the American excuse that it was 10,000 times stronger than their expectations and a dignified silence became Turkey’s official policy in this regard. It was also the line followed by Pulse which preferred to bypass numerous accusations blaming the Americans for the quake.

This was the case until Ambassador Edelman’s article in Hurriyet was clearly “OTT” (“over the top”) as an attempt to “bullying by the guilty” threatening that “such unbelievable conspiracy theories are an insult to the American people.”  The Ambassador and the forces behind him back home were apparently under the illusion that, taking advantage of the great shock and confusion of the 45 second quake, the Israeli submarines on the spot had managed to remove the “smoking gun” without the Turks’ noticing, between the pressing of the button at 3 a.m. and 6.30 a.m. when the rescue teams arrived in the region including a Russian survey vessel.

Israeli agents failed to remove the “smoking gun” in the 1999 quake

They were wrong. The whole affair was on record and despite the untold grief the Turkish nation was living through Ankara had already made up its mind about it and decided to take the dignified line of silence. Despite this decision of the Turkish Government, however, some people in the know could not bury their sorrow in their hearts. This was the case for especially the nationalist flank, the MHP, of the tripartite coalition. The Health Minister of that party, Osman Durmus, turned back the fully equipped American hospital ship which promptly arrived at the scene by bluntly remarking in anger, “I will not allow them to have a single Turkish patient for treatment.”

Leaving aside the secret activities of the Turkish Navy which are not common knowledge, the company that organised the party in the Naval Headquarters that night, 16/17 August 1999, had videotaped everything and the film is an excellent document to show all the strange signs of an artificially triggered off earthquake, some of the details of which have already gone into official records and archives of international seismic organisations as is quoted below. Furthermore, even though the CIA’s long arms had already stretched as far as Turkey’s main earthquake monitoring centre, the Kandilli Observatory on the Bosporus, and manipulated the seismic recordings, little did they know that there were two more sets of these records, one at the Afet Isleri Genel Mudurlugu (The Directorate General of Natural Disasters) and the other TUBITAK (The Turkish Scientific and Technological Research Centre), not counting the possibility of confidential work and records of Turkey’s security and intelligence organisations.

The American NGO dealing with Nature and earthquakes, Mutual UFO Network Eastern USA, received and made public the following eyewitness information about the 1999 earthquake from Turkey:

“They are incredibly clear, circular or triangular in shape, white, yellow, red and blue coloured, remain visible in the sky for 5 to 20 minutes, following a materialising-dematerialising pattern. The funny thing is it became a routine thing as they have been showing up two or three times a week.  They became an inevitable component of the TV news and media.  Furthermore, just before the quake, the bottom of the sea in Izmit went red and the sea temperature went up to 40-45 degrees centigrade.  However, there are no underwater volcanoes in the Sea of Marmara!  Starting two days before the quake, hundreds of fish, crabs and other sea life forms died and not naturally!  Somehow, they were burnt!  The fish nets of the fishermen were burned and we have several rock and stone samples from the sea, which went black in colour.  TUVPO (Turkish UFO and Paranormal Organisation) is cooperating with the Smithsonian Institute and a few universities in the US.  We already sent back some rock and burnt fishnet samples, upon their request.  Folks at TUVPO will hopefully run a spectrum analysis on the video tapes.  Some fishermen are also saying that they witnessed an explosion under the sea.  Fireballs, strange lights, sightings never ended in Turkey (Golcuk).”

As for the source of these strange “earthquake lights”, experts testify that they are caused by ‘piezoelectric’ phenomena. Piezoelectricity is believed to be caused by crystals found in certain rocks giving off a flow of electricity when subjected to high pressure.

Naturally, in the post earthquake period, the Disinformation Mechanism in the Turkish media, reinforced by local and foreign professors and scientists, was working overtime to brainwash the Turkish nation that an artificial earthquake is technically and scientifically impossible, that the rumours about tectonic weapons were all “unbelievable conspiracy theories disseminated by the enemies of the United States,” and that no one had yet invented such a terrible weapon that was enormous enough to set in motion earthquakes to destroy cities with huge concrete buildings.

The truth was that the first artificially created earthquake was accidentally done by Nikola Tesla in New York back in 1896, more than a century ago. The device he used was an electromagnetic generator that was small enough to go into a pocket and generated 10 horse power energy. A leading Tesla researcher and nuclear engineer, Lt. Col. Thomas Bearden called it back in 1981 “TMT” (The Tesla Magnifying Transmitter). He said during a lecture at USPA (US Psychotronics Association), “Tesla found that he could set up standing waves in the earth (the molten core), or, just set it up through the rocks – the telluric activity in the rocks would furnish activity into these waves and one would get more potential energy in these waves than one put in.”

In fact, Ambassador Edelman’s “conspiracy theory chorus” in Turkey had already been rebutted by the US Secretary of Defence, William Cohen, who told an audience at the University of Georgia in 1997, “Precautions against unconventional arms must be intensified as potential terrorists develop chemical and biological weapons and electromagnetic methods that could create holes in the ozone layers or trigger earthquakes and volcanoes.”

Defence Secretary Cohen was apparently referring to the Japanese religious cults which had been after Tesla’s notes and experiments, but they had been frustrated because they had already been put into American intelligence safes in the year he died, 1943, with top secret classification. So we do not know today what enlargements he did on his inventions in the nearly half a century more that he lived. Nor is it common knowledge what additions other countries, primarily the United States and Russia, made to Tesla’s inventions.

It is known that the EU, especially France and Germany, have invented Europe’s “bullet” trains with Tesla’s MHD (magnetohydrodynamics) technology and Germany has taken these trains to China.

No other country seems to have the new weapons systems but two Supers

Have these scientific marvels of the 20th century gone into the military field in countries other than the two Supers is of course top secret, but judging by the Japanese experience, they have not.

The Japanese experience is the story behind the Kobe earthquake. To cut a long story short, Washington was aware of and rather alarmed by the Japanese religious cult, Aum Shinrikyo’s decades old activities in tectonic weapons and interest in Tesla’s experiments, with particular attention to creating earthquakes artificially, as well as its rather advanced contacts with the Soviets and achievements in triggering small quakes in remote areas of Australia. Aum Chief Shoko Asahara said on April 19th, 1993, “The weapons to be used in WW III will make the atomic and hydrogen bombs look like toys. At present, the centrepiece of the Russian arsenal is called the star-reflector cannon. The U.S. has the strategic Defence Initiative, and the extension of this is micro-plasma.”

Asahara’s scientific brain, Hideo Murai, was brutally assassinated by three Korean murderers at a press conference in Tokyo exactly two years after the above press conference when he revealed that the January 1995 Kobe earthquake was done artificially with electromagnetic weapons. He could not, therefore, make further revelations about the Siren gas murders at the Tokyo tube system which was blamed on Aum by world media. The United States datelined dispatches were explaining that all this was an outcome of the rivalry between the apocalyptic cult Aum Shinrikyo and another Japanese cult, the militaristic Soka Gakkei. Yet the truth was that these religious organisations were secretly sponsored by Toshio Yamaguchi, head of Japan’s Foreign Intelligence Service.

In other words, the CIA managed to stop Japan from going into a new weapons system called “Kiyamet silahlariin Turkish and “Doom Weapons” in English. It also “achieved” to push the Japanese stock and finance markets into a crisis which is still continuing and brought a totally pro-American Government to power in Japan under the current PM, Junichiro Koizumi.

Was the success in Kobe the reason for the Istanbul quake?

Even though Pulse declares to be giving the Americans the benefit of the doubt about the 1999 earthquake, it is only a sign of helplessness rather than the outcome of an objective analysis and that is typical of Turkish diplomacy.

To explain it with a recent diplomatic event, the world was shaken earlier in the year when Turkey claimed through a Pulitzer Prize earner American journalist that Israel was sponsoring, training and encouraging the Kurds in northern Iraq for independence and tough policies. These publications and accusations against Israel and the Iraqi Kurds were brought up at the conference of the neighbouring countries of Iraq and a sharp split emerged immediately between Iraq’s Kurdish Foreign Minister Zabari supported by pro-American Arab countries like Jordan, Kuwait etc and the Iran-Syria front which was condemning them. Turkey’s Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul remained silent and passive in this dispute, yet it was him who had marketed these news reports. Why didn’t he side with Iran and Syria? Because Turkey’s aim by pushing these correct information and press reports was not to cause a new rift in the region, but to discourage Israel and others from going on with it.

The same is the case with the accusations concerning the 1999 earthquake. What is the point in falling at odds with the United States by outspoken accusations? “We know what you did two summers ago” is enough to show that your silence should not be taken as a sign of stupidity and ignorance. If that sign is not taken properly by official people like Ambassador Edelman then they put up with these Pulse articles or more. It is not important how small a publication it is, Pulse is a reputable publication that has been going on for over four decades getting its only strength from its meticulous care for correct information and its few but distinguished and influential readers that appreciate that fact.

As for the answer to the question, “Why did the Americans do it”, I think the success they achieved in Japan over the aftermath of Kobe is enough of a reason, but there are other reasons which I will briefly recall here, leaving the judgement to the reader.

At the 24 December 1995 general election in Turkey, Necmettin Erbakan’s party, the RP won 158 seats in Parliament, Tansu Ciller’s DYP 135, Mesut Yilmaz’s ANAP 132, Bulent Ecevit’s DSP 76 and Deniz Baykal’s CHP 49. The Government formed by that parliamentary arithmetic was a disaster for the Americans. The Erbakan-Ciller coalition, in its nearly one year in power up to July 1997, immediately set out to build a natural gas pipeline from Iran, with arrangements to extend it to Turkmenistan’s enormous energy resources. It also agreed with Moscow to build the Blue Stream natural gas pipeline under the Black Sea, but had no time to materialise it. With President Demirel’s efforts to prevent a military intervention, splintering took place in both coalition parties and the Mesut Yilmaz-Bulent Ecevit coalition replaced it in July 1997 with Deniz Baykal’s support from outside. There was talk from Washington of “strategic cooperation” with this Mesut Yilmaz Government, but it was all talk. The Yilmaz-Ecevit coalition went on with the Blue Stream project and rapidly brought it to life while it was improving relations with Iran and Iraq. The most Washington could do about these horrible developments for itself was to use Deniz Baykal’s CHP and force PM Yilmaz to resign on the eve of early elections. The result was the formation of the Ecevit lame duck government with Tansu Ciller’s support. In its short life span this tiny party’s minority government managed to arrest and bring back home from Kenya the PKK leader, Abdullah Ocalan, in February 1999. The 18 April 1999 general elections under these conditions were another shock for the United States. Ecevit’s DSP had 136 seats, the nationalist MHP 129, Erbakan’s party 111, ANAP 86 and DYP 85. The Turkish people punished Baykal’s CHP for withdrawing its support from the coalition and thus triggering off early elections. The CHP could not pass the 10% threshold and remained out of Parliament. The outcome of this parliamentary arithmetic was the tripartite Ecevit Government in June 1999 with Mesut Yilmaz and the MHP’s chairman Bahceli his coalition partners - another  shock for Washington. And it would continue for the next five years under normal legal terms. Would the United States tolerate it? Yet there was no way out for the Americans such as a parliamentary or military intervention against this tripartite coalition.

To this background, it is for the reader to judge if an artificially triggered off earthquake two months after the formation of this coalition was an accident or not. The two financial crises in November 2000 and February 2001 and efforts to topple PM Ecevit by a kind of poisoning him through an unnecessary cortisone treatment were all the externally engineered actions. They finally attained the goal by forcing another early election on 3 November 2002 and getting rid of all the political parties represented in Parliament. The result was 362 seats to Tayyip Erdogan’s new born AKP, 182 seats to Deniz Baykal’s CHP, plus seven independents.

Pulse described this election return, “A victory for the Americans and nothing could have been worse than this.” It also made a warning, “We will see, however, if the Americans will attain their goal by so overtly interfering in Turkey’s domestic affairs and elections.”

So far Washington has failed in having a Koizumi for Prime Minister in Turkey. Neither is the opposition party and its chairman are being subservient to foreigners and the Disinformation Mechanism is again working full speed to replace Baykal by Mustafa Sarigul, an obscure politician who has no other asset but the all out support of the Disinformation Mechanism.

The impact of the 1999 earthquake in the future developments of Turkey’s foreign policy will be discussed in another issue. This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it – October 25th, 2004
