Man dies after being shot with police Taser gun
CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) - A man who police say had "gone berserk" died after an officer shot him with a Taser during a confrontation in Clearwater Beach.
Police spokesman Wayne Shelor says officers were called after the man acted violently at a motel last night, throwing patio furniture and knocking out a window.
The man ignored an officer's commands to calm down and the two began to struggle. Shelor says the man was hit with a Taser, which had little effect, and was eventually handcuffed. He became limp moments later and was taken to a hospital, where he died.
The cause of death is unknown and will be determined later by an autopsy. The man's name has not been released.
