SARASOTA COUNTY -- Three batches of mosquitoes from the same part of a swampy area in northwest Sarasota County have tested positive for Eastern equine encephalitis.

The disease is fatal in 35 percent of cases, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The mosquitoes came from a swampy area west of Interstate 75, but county officials declined to identify the exact location.
