A court ruling Friday allows Daytona Beach to force the sale of three Boardwalk businesses to make way for a $120 million redevelopment project that would be the last major piece in the city's remake of its historic oceanside. Well. that is sad for me. A closing of another chapter in my life that I will never be allowed to try and revisit. To me, that Boardwalk was the last redeeming part of My Memories of Daytona Beach. My Family had lived at 214 Cedar Street in the early 60's. My Parents had a donut shop in near by Ormand Beach. My Father worked for the Aerospace Industry and my main Memories are of the Daytona Beach Boardwalk playing skit ball, eating warm glaze donuts,my School Teacher Mrs Grey , Fall Festivals, the underground crossunders,Movies palyed for with bottle caps of RC Cola. I can still drink RC Cola. I can still eat warm glazed donuts by zapping them for 30 sec. in the Microwave. I do not know if they still have the cross - unders..I don't walk that much these days anyway. But the Boardwalk, if I was going on a trip to Dayona Beach. It would be the place I would have gone to. The place of my Memories of long days past. The older I get the more I find those Memories stripped by developers dreams.
