FHP safety checkpoint in Port Charlotte

PORT CHARLOTTE – The Florida Highway Patrol will conduct a driver license and vehicle inspection checkpoint Thursday at the intersection of Midway Blvd. and Eagle St. in Port Charlotte.

The operation is part of FHP’s ongoing effort to promote safe driving. Recognizing the dangers presented to the public by defective vehicle equipment, troopers will focus on defects such as faulty brakes, worn tires and substandard lighting.

Troopers will also be looking for drivers who are operating a motor vehicle without a valid driver’s license.

FHP has found similar checkpoints to be an effective means of enforcing equipment and driver license guidelines set forth by the state of Florida.
