Venice store extends hours Need a new way to expand your business and make a little extra money? Try staying open longer.
That's what Jeff O'Berry of Nifty Nic Nacs is doing at his shop in downtown Venice.
He opened the store about three years ago, selling vintage furnishings, collectibles, accessories and a limited amount of apparel from the 1950s, '60s and '70s.
He used to keep limited hours and stay closed on Sundays. But as part of the store's third anniversary, he boosted hours to seven days a week, open "10-ish to 5-ish" Mondays through Thursdays and "10-ish to 2-ish" on Fridays and Sundays.
With a lease that requires him to pay property taxes on the space he rents at 219 W. Miami Ave., the extended hours could help pay for the cost of doing business.
It's also a response to requests from customers.
"I'd find myself in here on Sundays working on projects and people would be pulling on the door constantly," he said.
