Governor's Dog Dies After Losing Cancer Battle

(CBS4/AP) TALLAHASSEE Governor Jeb Bush's black Labrador Marvin has died after suffering from cancer. He was eleven.

Bush spokeswoman Alia Faraj says Marvin was always a star at events at the governor's mansion. She says all the kids loved him and that it was always a treat to meet the dog who was called Mighty Marvin.

The governor walked with Marvin every morning, and the dog would stay by his side even without a leash.

Marvin was trained as a hunting dog and given to Bush in 1997, the year before he was elected to his first term as governor.

The governor named the pet after his brother, and included a photo of Marvin holding a ball in his mouth on the Florida First Family Web page.
