Journalism and Corporate Media E-mail

This mornings rant. Golly, it feels weird stating that but that is exactly what these  little blurbs I do are. Morning rants. Things that  bother me while I sip my morning cup.

Today’s rant is with Journalism and Corporate media.

Yesterday , I heard that Greg Palast was a wanted man for doing what freelance Journalists do, which is  to report the news. We have all been expecting the reporting on gulags to be verbotin.  Actually, I was hoping that we were all on a fantasy trip into paranoia thinking that the great United States of America would have secret gulags to place people that they gather up in the middle of the night from their homes in secret.. Well, that is something nightmares and history lessons are full of. That is what the Russians did. That is what the Nazis did. That is what we did to those of Asian descent in WW2.

And here we are in 2006, and Greg Palast is on the run for taking pictures of the United States Gulags this one in particular holding Hurricane Katrina survivors.. What bothers me the most is the LACK of coverage on the Greg Palast situation.

AMY GOODMAN: And the issue of -- yesterday we played a piece by Greg Palast. He goes to a public housing project. It was not submerged. It was not hit by the water. And yet the residents are not allowed to return home. Their homes are boarded up.

So do you understand that Palast was doing what all real Journalists do? He went to the Story. He doesn’t wait for a government official to give him his morning cookie like the good lap dogs that have been adopted by the corporate media.  That has been more than apparent to me. Never in my life have I seen such a lazy bunch of Reporters than are out there today making 6 and 7 figure salaries. They have sold their souls for the American Dream and Photo Ops. Most of American should have woke up to this by now. There is no Liberal, run by the DNC, Press. There are only breeds of Lapdog.

So Greg is down in New Orleans. They have more than a mess down there. They have a manipulation going on. Greg Palast must have stepped on it. So now, as they say, he is a Wanted Man and no one is talking about it.

On the other hand, there is the story of Nancy Grace and the poor Mother of a boy that vanished in Ocala National Park.  Here is the case of someone that should have gone after the Bush Administration with vehemence. Instead, she wanted to show a 21 year old grieving Mother who was boss. So much so that they aired the piece even though afterwards the young despondent Mother of a missing child killed herself.

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry over this. Nothing was accomplished by the Nancy Grace School of aggressive journalism toward a victim, Absolutely nothing..

It is no wonder that the masterminds that orchestrated the disaster of Sept 11 2001 are still on the loose while this administration draws the noose around people that were BORN in the United States. I mean US Born Citizens. If I were not a Citizen, I wouldn’t have to give up my Social Security Number for every Joe Blow Company out there that now requires it to make a transaction because of Homeland Security Rules. I would only have to give up my Drivers license number. Does that shake anybody else up besides ME? And darn it, I can’t blame this mess on the Liberals either.
