TALLAHASSEE, FL -- The election is still two weeks away, but Floridians have started casting their ballots.
Monday was the first day of early voting.
For the next couple of weeks Floridians will be able to vote at various sites -- usually in public libraries or government buildings -- located in the county where they are registered.
The chance to vote early in races for governor, U.S. Senate and several House races ends November fourth.
Also on the ballot are races for attorney general, chief financial officer and agriculture commissioner.
The practice of opening the polls early in Florida was expanded after the botched presidential election in 2000. Officials hoped
having selected polling sites open early would help keep lines shorter on Election Day.
Registered voters can go to any early voting site in the county where they are registered. Each person must show a photo identification to obtain a ballot.
