A local iguana extermination company reported threats and angry phone calls Tuesday after describing their method of killing iguanas by placing them in a freezer during an appearance on the "Today" show.
Iguana Busters, of 5001 Woodfield Road in Placida, reported to the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office that they had received seven angry phone calls from a woman who thought their method of killing trapped iguanas was cruel. Iguana Busters employees had explained on an episode of "Today" that aired Tuesday morning that they place iguanas in a freezer, where they fall asleep and die.
According to the Sheriff's Office report, an unidentified female caller became argumentative and made threats. At one point, she told an employee that there was a bomb in their building. The employee knew it was a prank and did not take the threat seriously, the report said.
Dale Bowe, owner of Iguana Busters, told police he did not want the matter investigated, but wanted the incidents documented, the report said.
