"My son died yesterday and he was killed by a little tiny nuclear bomb.
It was so small that you could not see it. But the people who killed him have big nuclear bombs and missiles and those people should not be trusted.
He was very courageous when he met death and I am proud of my son. He was a very honest and good man. Marina (his wife) and Sasha (Alexander) were the most wonderful couple. They loved each other so much.
They were so happy here in London, but the long arm of Moscow got them here on this soil. I feel extremely sorry for Marina. She’s lost a wonderful husband and I’ve lost a son.
This regime is a mortal danger to the world. I have nothing to fear any more because I can expect anything from this regime. I will not leave because I have spent all my life in Russia and that is where my grandchildren are.’
My son endured an excruciating death but remained a real man. Even as he lay dying he still did not want to trouble his father too much.
He never lost his human dignity. Sasha fought this regime and this regime got him. If we let this go, if we go about our business as usual, this regime will get to all of us.
The regime will fall as a government with no morality or conscience is doomed.
I hope the street where Sasha was born will be named after him.
He will always be remembered in our hearts and the hearts of a lot of Russian people."
