Waste Management plans new pick-up schedule E-mail

Your garbage dates may be changing.

Starting Monday, many residents of Charlotte County will have a new schedule for their garbage, recycling and yard waste to be picked up by Waste Management.

"Color-keyed maps showing the neighborhoods and changes were sent to all of the residents of the county who will be affected," said Suellen McElroy, program coordinator, Environmental & Extension Services.

County growth is one of the reasons for the changes, according to Melissa Doyle, spokesperson for Waste Management.

"This change will not affect everyone. Many of our customers will see no change in their waste collection," Doyle said.

With the route changes, all of the trucks will service the same place at the same time as they balance their routes with the county growth.

"Before, we were servicing 42,000 customers; now we are servicing 86,000 customers in the county," Doyle said.

To find out when your service days are, go online to www.charlottefl.com. Click on departments, then click on environmental and extension service, then click on pickup schedules. When you get there, key in your address, and the dates of your garbage collection will come up. You can also call Waste Management at 941-629-1106. If your address is not listed on the internet site, it means your collection dates are unchanged.
