Tenet completes sale of S. Florida hospital E-mail
Written by Dallas Business Journal

Tenet Healthcare Corp. has sold Hollywood Medical Center to Memorial Healthcare System for $32 million in cash.

Memorial Healthcare System, the public, nonprofit health care provider for Florida's South Broward County, said it has renamed Hollywood Memorial Regional Hospital South.

The hospital has the lowest occupancy rate among South Florida hospitals. Agency for Health Care Administration figures show the hospital lost $1.7 million on $51.5 million in operating revenue in 2005. The occupancy rate was 19 percent.

The 324-bed facility in Hollywood, Fla., is a mile and a half from Memorial Healthcare's 684-bed Memorial Regional Hospital.

With the deal, Dallas-based Tenet (NYSE:THC) has completed the sale of five of 13 hospitals the company has identified for divestiture.
