Reporters that want to be great
Not only do we have a makeshift Texas Cowboy in the White House and we have a Wyoming Cowboy as VP that have manipulated the News Media,
We also have had Reporters who want to add a little flair to their otherwise probably boring tales.
Case in point, The USA Today Reporter , Jack Kelley. He was found to have fabricated major portions of 8 major Stories at the time of this USA Today news report.
Kelley, 43, resigned from the newspaper in January after he admitted conspiring with a translator to mislead editors overseeing an inquiry into his work. A team of five reporters and an editor, monitored by a three-member panel of former editors from outside the newspaper, reviewed more than 720 stories Kelley wrote from 1993 through 2003. Each was examined by at least two members of the team.
The three former editors spent about 20 hours interviewing Kelley. Throughout those interviews, Kelley insisted he had done nothing wrong and urged a quick resolution to the newspaper’s investigation. “I’ve never fabricated or plagiarized anything,” Kelley said.
Confronted Thursday with the newspaper’s findings, Kelley spent 2 1/2 hours again denying wrongdoing. “I feel like I’m being set up,” he told them.
But an extensive examination of about 100 of the 720 stories uncovered evidence that found Kelley’s journalistic sins were sweeping and substantial. The evidence strongly contradicted Kelley’s published accounts that he spent a night with Egyptian terrorists in 1997; met a vigilante Jewish settler named Avi Shapiro in 2001; watched a Pakistani student unfold a picture of the Sears Tower and say, “This one is mine,” in 2001; visited a suspected terrorist crossing point on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in 2002; interviewed the daughter of an Iraqi general in 2003; or went on a high-speed hunt for Osama bin Laden in 2003.
In addition:
• Significant parts of one of Kelley’s most gripping stories, an eyewitness account of a suicide bombing that helped make him a 2001 Pulitzer Prize finalist, are untrue. Kelley told readers he saw the bomber. But the man he described could not have been the bomber.
• Kelley’s explanations of how he reported stories from Egypt, Russia, Chechnya, Kosovo, Yugoslavia, Israel, Cuba and Pakistan were contradicted by hotel, phone or other records or sources he said would confirm them.
• Kelley wrote scripts to help at least three people mislead USA TODAY reporters trying to verify his work, documents retrieved from his company-owned laptop computer show. Two of the people are translators Kelley paid for services months or years before. Another is a Jerusalem businessman, portrayed by Kelley as an undercover Israeli agent.
• In speeches to groups such as the Evangelical Press Association, Kelley talked of events that never occurred.
Before he resigned, Kelley spent his entire 21-year career at USA TODAY. Editors nominated him for a Pulitzer Prize five times. Now, Editor Karen Jurgensen said the newspaper will withdraw all prize entries it made on Kelley’s behalf. The newspaper also will flag stories of concern in its online archive.
However, the stories are IN people’s brain as the truth.
Why is this up most on my mind? Because I am tired of listening to so much stuff that really isn’t the weave of what is going on because it is all based on mostly fabricated news reports. We do not know what is a real report or what reports have been bought and paid for.
How long has this been going on? Well there has probably always been someone in the Reporting field that has wanted more. That is what is coveted. The problem comes with the over laying of lies to cover up one of the biggest crimes in our Country’s history.
Yes, I am talking of the entire Bush Presidency starting with Sept 11 in particular but I believe all of his Presidency is suspect.
Many times, in the 9-11 Movement the question is asked about all the News accounts and Reports from spectators. I have seen many of the kind of accounts they are talking about. You can see these accounts on any site that supports the Flying men with Box cutters tale from Washington. On the same token, I have seen video accounts on that terrible day speaking of explosions before the plane hit and explosions in the basement, reporters talking about reports of car bombs ect Yet all the reports that support the evidence are suppose to be false while all the printed statements are supposedly all true.
Back in 1995 Patricia Smith with the Boston Globe resigned , after admitting to fabricating characters in four of her columns. Then there was Boston Globe columnist Mike Barnicle also resigned after it was found that he fabricated a story regarding 2 families that met each other at a Cancer Center. One family black and poor the other Rich and White. All made up. The people , the setting, the conclusion. All made up
We already know that the Bush Administration has bought Spokesmen for the Policies that Bush wanted to succeed. When this is brought up the supporters of this administration say that everyone has had paid news men…”Look at Helen Thomas” they say . But THIS is different isn’t it? Or are all the talk shows simply paid programming hawking the latest propaganda from the top. The older people think these people are speaking from the heart. They fail to realize that their heart is bank account related.
Back in the 70’s there was a report of sarin gas. The FAIR.ORG archived report states:
Soon after the report aired, CNN management began retreating in the face of immense pressure--first from the military establishment, including Henry Kissinger, Colin Powell and former CIA chief Richard Helms, and then from a media establishment more inclined to rally around the military than to explore the U.S. government’s secret war in Laos. With CNN producers muzzled by management for several weeks, the media "debate" overlooked evidence from journalists and Vietnam veterans that U.S. defectors were indeed targeted during the Vietnam War. Even the comment made by former Defense Secretary Melvin Laird (Associated Press, 6/9/98) that the U.S. had sent nerve gas to Vietnam in 1967 was quickly forgotten. And John Kerry spoke about being involved in the secret war in Laos and many of those “swift boaters” yelled Kerry down because there was “no war in Laos” And nothing was done to correct them.
We had Newsweek Magazine who had bravely reported on the abuse at Prison Camps only to be forced to retract from pressure from the Government. Much to the World Socialists Amusement. I must say. I think This Administration has all our past enemies drooling with anticipation of a USA bloodbath. Maybe that is what the Shadow government is looking for. It would certainly keep the blood from spilling on them or so they think
.
We have since found out the allegations were true. Yet the News Magazines still do not want to cover it or talk about it. We have also found out we are sending prisoners off, rendition, is the cleaned up word for it, to be tortured by countries that are getting some compensation to house and torture terror suspects. Terror Suspects that may have no connection to “terror” at all except living in Terror…from us.
Also from Fair.org come the Gulf of Tonkin incident
On August 5, 1964, American news media reported that North Vietnamese forces--for the second time in three days--had launched unprovoked attacks on U.S. ships in the Tonkin Gulf. But the attack by North Vietnam on August 2 wasn't "unprovoked." And the "second attack" never occurred.
Across the United States, front pages presented fabrications as facts. The New York Times (8/5/64) proclaimed that the U.S. government was retaliating "after renewed attacks against American destroyers in the Gulf of Tonkin." The Washington Post's headline (8/5/64) typified the national spin: "American Planes Hit North Vietnam After Second Attack on Our Destroyers; Move Taken to Halt New Aggression."
Two days later, the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution--the closest thing there ever was to a declaration of war against North Vietnam--gained nearly unanimous approval from Congress.
We asked a number of Washington Post staffers whether the newspaper ever retracted its Tonkin Gulf reporting. "I can assure you that there was never any retraction," said Murrey Marder, a reporter who wrote much of the Post's coverage of the August 1964 Tonkin events.
There are many Vietnam Vets that do not accept that this was fabrication because to them it is disrespectful of their comrades who died in battle of another war that was also built on a lie . This is one of the major reasons there is such a mindset regarding THIS war we have going on today. So their sentiments are wrapped up with the emotions that never healed from the last farce of a war where support was fabricated.
Now speaking of Propaganda propagation we have the story that Democracy Now broke
Report: Lincoln Group Paid Sunni Scholars To Assist Pro-Military Propaganda
In other Iraq news, the New York Times has revealed controversial Pentagon contractor the Lincoln Group has been paying Sunni religious scholars for assistance with its propaganda efforts. The company is already under investigation over the disclosure it secretly paid Iraqi newspapers to publish American-authored articles favorable to the U.S. military. That investigation is reportedly complete; military officials told the Times an initial assessment concluded the military was "operating within our authorities and the appropriate legal procedures."
So therefore , even the news broadcasted all over the world has been tainted by that hand of Pentagon treats.
Can this be what the money that was given to the Pentagon with no questions asked ..what that money really went for?
What I have been trying to show is the ultimate underhanded and scheming , premeditation to keep the truth from even reaching the Newsprint. The money that has been pushed to stop real news broadcasting and reporting has been tremendous. Anyone that says the truth can’t be kept down is WRONG.
The people working on the Sept 11,2001 attack can tell you that the truth is being kept out of print and now with all this other stuff “built” on top of the worst crime in our History. It will be very hard to sift through all the lies and deceit that have been layered and layered.
